Introduction:

Why most of the cancer patients in our country present at an advanced stage of the disease, when curative treatment is not possible? Available information and experience indicate that the delayed presentation of cancer has become a major obstacle to offer curative treatment of cancer. Possibly multiple factors are contributing directly or indirectly to the problem. Multidisciplinary team approach involving people from relevant sectors is essential to develop awareness about the impact of early detection and treatment. National, regional and international cooperation and collaboration are essential for successful campaigning and screening program. Relevant and important information and research about cancer are very few or lacking in our country. The epidemiological survey on cancer and cancer registry are also lacking, which is essential part of defining the magnitude of the problem, prevention and treatment of cancer. Till date there is no national guideline on breast and colorectal cancer screening. Only through the screening program cancer can be detected at pre-symptomatic and/or early curable stage.

Cancer support group ( CANSUP ) has born to fill these gaps in the medical sector of our country. CANSUP is a non profitable organization dedicated to provide information and suggestion about cancer, awareness campaigning, screening program, epidemiological survey, introducing cancer registry and developing a strategy for early detection of breast, colorectal and other cancer.

We strongly believe that awareness about the cancer may be generated by introduction of cancer campaigning and awareness program through seminar, symposia, and documentary film demonstration by using the electronic media, government health delivery chain and through NGO's.

WHO WE ARE

CANSUP is a health related and community based nonprofit able organization dedicated to provide information, suggestions and services about cancer, awareness campaigning, capacity building, screening program, epidemiological survey, research, introducing cancer registry and developing strategic guideline for prevention and early detection of cancer with the vision of developing a cancer research institute.
